Did You Ever Wonder Why? Some Wedding Traditions Explained

Why the groom can't see the bride before the wedding: Sadly, because in the age of arranged marriages, the groom often didn't see the bride until their wedding day, in case, uh, there was any changing of the mind (AKA one of them was not attractive to the other)

Left-hand ring finger:Ancient Romans believed there was a vein running from this finger to the heart, so the wedding band is worn on the finger "closest to your heart".

Wearing a white gown: Until about 1840, brides often wore dresses in all colors, and usually their Sunday best. But Queen Victoria chose white for her wedding gown, and started a trend that's lasted until today. Though there are the very fashion-forward brides who are experimenting with red and black dresses, as well as other colors like light blues. Today's Chinese brides generally dress in red, as the color is said to be good luck, and Indian brides also dress in colorful gowns.

Carrying flowers: Flowers and herbs were used to ward off evils spirits...as were veils.

Just a little food for thought!
