Fall Weddings

If you are somewhere where Fall is a season, and you are treated each you to spectacular fall foliage (like here in Vermont), then you know that autumn is a beautiful time of year for a wedding. Your best color choices are rich reds, oranges, warms browns, yellows, gold and shades in between. Don't know where to start? Choose your colors and go from there. They will help limit your selections and make pulling your wedding together easier.

Centerpiece ideas: Because they are aplenty this time of year, Mums would make excellent and inexpensive centerpieces. A small mum plant and a hand-painted (aka DIY) terra cotta pot would make a beautiful centerpiece. Mums come in all sorts of shades. Another centerpiece idea: pillar candles in varying heights with a wreath of "leaves" (you can very realistic fake leaves). Other inexpensive centerpieces: pumpkins accentuated with different colored gourds and leaves. Or, forego the gourds and carve the pumpkins on two sides (so guests will be able to see on each side) and make sure to put in lots of tea lights.

Linens: Accentuate your colors with your linens, but don't go overboard. You don't want your centerpieces to get lost in them. Consider putting a color underneath an ivory cover.

Placecards: Use mini gourd pumpkins with slits in the stems to stand up your placecards.

Bouquets: Use darker calla lilies, orange roses and mums for a striking combination:

Don't forget about your invitations. Start by using your colors in your invitations. This invitation from Lasso'd Moon Designs features gold and brown with a nice-size piece of plantable paper behind the vellum, but it can be done in any number of colors.

Hopefully these ideas will get you started and on your way to a beautiful fall wedding.
